Sparkle

Whitney Houston's farewell performance in sparkle was a good one. She did not upstage Jordan Sparks, but she nailed her character through a solid and consistent performance. As I watched the movie, I found myself drifting in and out of moments in which the reality of Whitney's death pulled me away from the film.

If you are a fan of Whitney Houston, you will not be disappointed, although the movie definitely showcases the brilliance of Jordan Sparks (and there is definitely a brilliance there) you will get a study dose of Whitney throughout this inspirational masterpiece.

I love this movie because it is not as dark as the original. It has its dark moments, but it is brighter throughout.

I have to say that Jordan Sparks nailed her role and delivered in a way that I did not expect. If this young lady can remain centered and focused, she will actualize an enormous potential and shake up the entertainment world. She does not have the voice of a Whitney or the range of Mariah, but then who does? What she does have is a personality all her own and a stage (an obviously camera) presence that captivates an audience. I look forward to experiencing more of her work.

For those of you that have not seen the movie, I would definitely recommend it.
